The Beginning of the End. posted 12-19-2007

Well, we'll see how long this lasts. I'm notorious for avoiding things like blogs and social networking sites because of the maintanance involved. I gave up on MySpace after I could't figure out how the styles work [and I'm still convinced that it has the most unintuitive interface I've ever seen], and only last week did a friend finally coerse me to get on Facebook. Happily, I know HTML, so my blog won't require any amount of scripting, downloading and tryinng to hack any third-party application, or comprimising the "experience" of my site by simply sending the user someplace else. If it did, you'd be staring at a blank page right now.

I am, however, becoming more and more aware of the purpose of social tools like blogs and community websites from a business marketing perspective. So, eventually, I'm going to have to get past my fears and delve into the world of blogs. Ideally, though, my partner-in-crime Bob Junke or another developer will take care of the back-end.

So here it is, my first official blog post. From now on you'll likely be privied to semi-regular cynical, sarcastic or philisophical commentaries about society, religion and the little bit of politics that I understand (and it ain't the good part, if there is such a thing). Maybe an occassional photo of my wife. That always cheers everybody up. Should be a good balance.

Until next time. —kurtis.
